Thank you for recognizing an outstanding World Language IATLC colleague! The votes are in for Teacher of the Year!! We’re proud of last year’s winner, Katie Baker! In addition to supporting WL teachers nationally, as the IATLC secretary, she has been an integral part of planning this year’s conference. Thanks to Katie’s efforts we can count on the participation of countless CI authors, sponsors and featured speaker, Karen Rowan of Fluency Fast!

Having taught Chinese in an American high school for two years after many years of teaching English in a Chinese high school, Ms. Haojie Shi invites her fellow educators to a discussion on the pedagogical differences between teaching Chinese to Americans and teaching English to Chinese students. She will discuss the student-centered approach and increasing fluency through reading, writing, speaking and listening. This presentation is ideal for educators who are making the transition from teaching English abroad to teaching foreign language in America. The presentation and following discussion will be held in Mandarin Chinese.
